The "Slow Blink": When I first arrive, I don't rush them. Avert your eyes and give a slow, deliberate blink. In cat language, this says, "I’m not a threat, I’m a friend."
Maintain the Routine: Feed them at the exact times they are used to. If they get "treat time" at 7:00 PM, try to stick to it.
The Scoop Protocol:
I scoop the litter box at least once a day. Cats are fastidious; a dirty litter box is the #1 reason for "accidents" on the rug.
Play vs. Space:
Some cats want to hunt a feather wand for 20 minutes; others want to hide under the bed for three days. I respect their vibe.
